Bad Food = Bad Medicine: Consider These Right Foods to Optimize Your Health

What if I told you that you could overcome arthritis, autoimmune disease, diabetes, heart disease, attention deficit disorder, migraines, chronic allergies, and depression with food?

The good news is you can! All you need to do is switch your food intake to the right foods. For the right foods is good medicine.

When you consume the right foods you can prevent, reverse, or even cure diseases. On the flip side, consuming bad foods is bad medicine that will make you sick and worsen your conditions.

Of course, it may not be so simple to eliminate the bad and introduce the good foods. Also, you can’t just eliminate the bad foods, (re)introduce the good foods, and expect to improve your condition(s) overnight.

As I have written about before, the key is to get your hormones balanced. Getting proper sleep, reducing stress and toxins, and eliminating bad foods are some of the factors involved when it comes to balancing your hormones and optimizing your health.

However, since I am speaking specifically about foods in this article, I will share some of the good foods, ingredients, and supplements you should have in your diet. But first, let’s talk about the bad foods to eliminate.

Bad foods and ingredients to remove

Highly processed foods are bad. If you find yourself looking at a label on the back of a package that has a laundry list of ingredients in which you may not be able to pronounce, then this is a sign that you should not be eating the food.

Ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, artificial sweeteners, added sugar, flour, MSG, chemicals, and additives are all toxic. Also, in many cases, gluten is something that may need to be removed to alleviate or eliminate your symptoms and conditions.

When you eat bad foods, you can inflame your gut and your cells, which can lead to your whole body being inflamed. When this happens, you can start to experience pain, headaches, allergies, and fatigue.

Not only does consuming bad foods lead to weight gain, but you can also develop chronic conditions or autoimmune diseases that can become deadly.

The good foods and supplements

Well, that’s all good info, Dr. Spiegel. But what on earth am I supposed to eat?

I hear this a lot. And many times when people hear that they need to get rid of the bad foods, they immediately think of the words, “diet,” or “sacrifice.”

Yes, changing your food intake does require you to make dietary enhancements. However, this is a part of a lifestyle change for the better as good foods become good medicine that can help you live healthier and longer.

So, what are some of the good foods, ingredients, and supplements to have more of? Below is a list I have put together. Many of these can also help you remove harmful toxins and balance your alkaline levels:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Soybeans
  • Nuts
  • Legumes
  • Seeds
  • Melon
  • Buckwheat
  • Olive oil
  • Flaxseed
  • Avocados
  • Grapefruit
  • Bananas
  • Quinoa
  • Berries
  • Carrots
